CARTAGENA DE INDIAS |
The ancient port city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia
has national and international connotations, for it has been an
important settlement site for primitive communities, crucial link
between the Caribbean cities that formed the Spanish exploratory
rout, and a remarkable place for introducing the new concept of
independency and national identity. The modern city, named by UNESCO
as World Heritage for Humanity, is composed of an original geography,
a unique topography, a vital historic center and a series of contemporary
urban expansions. It is due to the contrast between said components
that the city acquires a turistic, cultural, industrial and educational
orientatation without precedents.
The historic district where we operate is, in itself, laboratory,
library and archive. Even though the historic walls physically enclose
the sector where we act, our virtual site has no limits; we encounter
followers, participants and observers in the most unexpected places
in the world. We invite potential participants from the region,
Colombia and around the world to obtain and expand their knowledge
in the fields of art and design.
